Formula
The system utilizes two distinct engineering standards for calculations:
1. Pixel Density: PPI = √(Horizontal Pixels² + Vertical Pixels²) / Diagonal Screen Size (Inches) 2. Optimal Eye Resolution Distance (Retina Threshold): Distance = (3438 / PPI) × Acuity Factor 3. Cinematic Immersion Distance (THX 40° Max FOV): Distance = Screen Diagonal × 1.2
Practical Example
A user configures a mainstream US gaming battle station with a 27-inch 1440p (2560 × 1440) monitor and has 20/20 vision. PPI Calculation: √(2560² + 1440²) / 27 = 2942.17 / 27 = 108.97 PPI. Retina Viewing Distance: 3438 / 108.97 = 31.5 Inches (approx. 2.6 Feet). THX Immersive Distance: 27 × 1.2 = 32.4 Inches. The ideal desk depth should allow sitting roughly 31 to 33 inches away.
